While the Los Angeles Dodgers are watching the World Series from their couches, a different Los Angeles area baseball team, the Long Beach Coast, is currently on a historic roll while playing as a guest team in the Korean fall baseball league.
The Long Beach Coast, an independent pro baseball team that competes in the U.S. in the Pioneer League, is currently overseas and racking up wins in the KBO Fall League.
The Coast are the first American team to participate in the South Korean league, and clinched the playoffs earlier this week while boasting an undefeated record.
In 11 games in the KBO Fall League, the Coast have nine wins, zero losses and two draws, including two shutouts. Through the first 10 games of the tournament, the Coast scored 62 runs while allowing only 24.
Now, after securing its place in the field of championship hopefuls, the Coast (aka Regulators) will get its first taste of playoff action on Thursday at 8 p.m.
Team officials say the game will be streamed on the KBO YouTube channel, with watch parties being held at Trademark Brewing in Long Beach, as well as another watch party in Oakland.
- This current Coast roster is composed of key contributors from the 2026 Pioneer League team, as well as members of fellow Pioneer League rivals.
Former MLB coach and manager Don Wakamatsu came out of retirement to manage the squad in the KBO Fall League Tournament, which concludes on Saturday, Oct. 31.
Long Beach Coast’s first season
In only its inaugural season, the Long Beach Coast were a dynamic offensive and defensive powerhouse in the Pioneer League, finishing with a 67-29 record in Pioneer League play. Managed by former MLB pitcher Troy Percival, the team advanced to the Pioneer League Championships, before being swept by the eventual champions (and my hometown team) Billings Mustangs.

It was a remarkable and admirable start for the team, who seem poised to add to its early list of accolades with a potential international trophy from the KBO Fall League.
